Located in the small village of Kondana, around 14kms from Karjat town, are Kondane Caves. These ancient caves excavated by Buddhists in the first century B.C. show case impressive architecture of Buddhist carvings and Stupas which makes it a place of sheer beauty and awe. Best time to visit it is during the monsoon months and soak in the breath-takingwaterfalls. All through the year it forms great place to trekmaking it as a half day adventure. Hiring a local guide for the trek would be the best way to explore around.
